We have certain expectations about the permanence of architectural bodies (buildings, bridges and other physical structures) but, with some exceptions, they have a lifespan similar to humans. One report by the U.S. Department of Energy from 2008 identified commercial buildings having an average lifespan of 70-75 years while human life-expectancy in the U.S. was averaged to be 78 years in a survey by the Center of Disease Control.
Tattooing Architecture is a project looking to imprint architecture into/onto the body, reexamining what architecture should be while reversing the traditional role of architecture and looking at architecture as more than a physical body.
